Abstract: In many operational fleets, differences in field operating conditions, usage intensity and product inception time often result in a spread of equipment ages. While the case of homogenous equipment failure characteristic has been popular, it is not appropriate in many military systems, where deployment of the fleet is dispersed over a multiplicity of operating environment. In this paper we propose a demand forecasting system for spare-parts management in large-scale fleet scenarios with substantial variability in equipment reliability. Our model is based on multi-population mixture of Weibull failure distributions.
