We report our recent study on web guide slippage phenomena in our roll-to-roll (R2R) prototype system constructed for UV and/or hot embossing intermediate processes. Using the design of experiments (DOE) method, we analyzed the lateral slippage phenomena occurring on flexible plastic at the web guide. Both simulation and experimental work were performed to enhance our understanding of its effect on the web tension and speed under normal operating conditions. © 2013 IEEE.
