Abstract: A Green's function approach Is presented to calculate the radiation pattern of a center-fed helical microstrip antenna mounted on a circular cylinder with a superstrate. An analytic expression of current on the helical micristrip antenna Is rigorously obtained by solving mixed potential Integral equation (MPIE) in spatial domain. With the analytic expression of the current, radiation pattern of the helical antenna can be analytically calculated using far field Hankel transform. The present method can be easily applied to analyze the effects of the substrate and superstrate on the radiation pattern of the helical antenna. Good agreement between results of Green's function approach and those of the reciprocity approach provides validation for the present method.
