Abstract: A shortened Reed-Solomon (RS) code may be folded into a two-dimensional array arid used in a burst error channel model to reduce the probability of erroneous reception. Properties of these codes are presented and a decoding algorithm based on list, decoding is proposed. In particular, estimates of the probability of successful decoding, decoder error and decoder failure are given. © 2005 IEEE.
