Abstract: An adaptive integral method (AIM) was applied to solve the second-kind integral equation used to calculate the capacitance matrix for arbitrarily shaped 3D structure. The uniformity of multipole moment approximation of second-kind integral equation was numerically and theoretically revealed that could guarantee the accuracy of AIM for capacitance computation. It was demonstrated by numerical experiments that the computational complexity of AIM could be nearly reduced to O(N) and O(N logN) for 3D problems.
