Abstract: This paper reports some results obtained in an investigation to study the machinability of hiduminium/corundum particulate composites. The corundum dispersoid content ranged from 0% to 7%. Standard machining tests were carried out by turning the specimens on a conventional lathe. The input parameters were cutting speed, feedrate and depth of cut. The cutting forces in three perpendicular directions (namely, tangential, axial and radial forces) were measured by means of a dynamometer on which the high-speed-steel cutting tool was mounted.
