dc.description.abstract | Tissue sensors for dopamine have been prepared using pretreated polyphenolase-containing tissue powder of potato, apple, banana and mushroom. The tissue is fragmented, exposed to air to facilitate the polyphenolase enzymic oxidation of the phenolic and allied compounds in the tissue, washed with water to remove the oxidation products, residual esters, sugars and other soluble compounds from the tissue, vacuum dried and then pulverized to a fine powder. The sensor consists of a dissolved-oxygen probe overlaid with a polycarbonate membrane on which the tissue powder is immobilized. The pretreated tissue powder gives good sensor performance with significantly higher sensitivity, lower concentration detection limits, better reproducibility, stability and remarkably longer service life than those prepared by other workers without the same pretreatment. © 1995. | |
