Abstract: Cylindrical liquid storage tanks anchored to rigid base slabs are considered. By using finite elements for both liquid and tankwall, the natural frequencies of the coupled system are presented in graphical form for various tank dimensions, liquid depths and wall thicknesses. From the mode shapes it is concluded that during coupled vibration a large core of liquid is practically unaffected. © 1982.
