A study was conducted to examine the feasibility of using thin ferrocement overlays for resurfacing concrete pavements. It compared the laboratory flexural behavior of beams constructed with three types of overlays: plain cement mortar, steel fiber mortar and ferrocement overlays. The effects of overlay thickness and bonding characteristics were examined. Test results showed that ferrocement overlay exhibited superior flexural performance than plain cement mortar and fiber mortar overlays, regardless of the types of bonding provided. The study suggests that thin ferrocement overlay is a promising rehabilitation technique for surface deteriorated concrete pavements.
