dc.description.abstractIt is shown that although inadvertent weak coherent optical feedback can adversely affect the small-signal response of a directly modulated semi-conductor laser, its effect on large-signal modulation response can be small. The result is of significance to the response of directly modulated lasers in subcarrier multiplexed systems.
