Abstract: This paper proposes the application of predictive fuzzy logic control in an event driven framework for emergency rescheduling of DC railway systems. In particular, the paper addresses the train dwell-time control. By automatic train rescheduling, the algorithm is designed to provide optimal performance associated with regularity, headway, congestion level and passenger comfort. Studies were carried out to assess the performance of the proposed algorithm, which show an overall improvement of railway performance under a wide range of emergency conditions. Railway performance is assessed by a set of performance indices, and the aim of fuzzy control is to score the best performance among these indices.
