Abstract: The status and trend of micro-power generators developed in the world are reviewed. The emphasis is on the dual-zone combustor micro gas turbine engines, the resonant micro reciprocating engine for power generation, the micro rotary engine, as well as the micro thermophotovoltaic systems developed by our research team. The latter system has high efficiency burner, no moving parts and low cost of fabrication. Finally, the major challenges faced by micro power generators are introduced, and some fundamental problems need to be resolved are also summarized.
