dc.description.abstractThe dynamic analysis of the transverse vibration of a pretwisted spinning and axially moving beam with a rectangular cross-section is analysed using the Euler beam theory. The coupled linearized equations of motion for vibrations in two orthogonal directions of the cross-section are obtained from Hamilton's principle and the assumed mode method. A simple series of single-term polynomials is used for the assumed mode. The results of the numerical simulations are presented for various combinations of prescribed spinning and axial motions for beams of different pretwisted angle per unit length. © 1994.
