dc.description.abstractA new approach for analysing the error probability of a signal constellation that involves a π/2-radian, wedge-shaped decision in additive white Gaussian noise is presented. The result is obtained in exact closed-form in terms of the Q-function. Applied to 8-QAM, this approach gives an exact closed-form expression for the symbol error probability. © IEE 2005.
