Abstract: In this paper, we present theoretical predictions on the lower and upper bound performance of an Optical Switching (OS) node utilizing partial wavelength converters. The theoretical predictions arise from a simple one-dimensional Markov chain analysis model. The new theoretical results are also compared with an existing multi-dimensional Markov chain analysis model. Numerical simulations will clearly demonstrate that the new theoretical bounds are tighter than existing bounds. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
