Abstract: A novel tri-band, multifingered antenna is proposed. With the integration of the electromagnetic bandgap as an impedance-matching element, a wider impedance bandwidth response is obtained, the proposed antenna is also noted to be smaller in size, as compared to the conventional microstripfed tri-band antenna. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
