A polyaniline contact layer was deposited via microemulsion polymerisation with resulted in nanosize short-chain polymer particles that penetrate deeper into the pores of porous silicon than polymers deposited by other more conventional methods. The microemulsion method gives a contact with higher chemical electroluminescence efficiency due to a larger area of actively emitting porous silicon.
