When a single DNA Molecule is stretched beyond its B-form contour length, the Molecule shows cooperative overstretching transitions. We review single-Molecule stretching experiments, that demonstrated the salt solution effects on the overstretching transitions of DNA Molecules. From these experimental measurements, some hypotheses of DNA structure during overstretching transitions are discussed. Based on different DNA structure hypotheses, the numerical models for the monovalent and multivalent salt solution effects on the overstretching transitions of DNA Molecules are presented.
