The preparation of carbon nanostructure, namely ordered mesoporous carbon (OMC) covered with carbon nanotubes (CNT) was described. The CNTs on the external surface of the OMC were found to form an interconnected network, which facilitates electron transport between the OMC particles. It was shown that the presence of CNTs on the external surface of OMC can improve the electronic conductivity of the carbon materials. The results show that the nanostructured carbon material may find applications in electrochemical energy conversion and storage.
