Abstract: The research project was targeted for the study and investigation of catalytic systems for asymmetric transformations. Chapter 1 described the study for the preparation of chiral morpholinone and its derivatives for frustrated Lewis pairs behaviour in activation of molecular hydrogen. Chapter 2 described the study and development of novel bidendate ligands derived from N-heterocyclic carbene and olefin moiety for late transition metal catalysis. Finally, the last chapter introduced the bifunctional organocatalytic approach for direct alkylation of 3-substituted oxindole derivatives.
