dc.description.abstract | In this thesis, polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB)-based block copolymers of different functional groups and macromolecular architectures were synthesized through the combination of ring opening polymerization (ROP) and click chemistry. The self-assembly behavior of PHB-based amphiphilic block copolymers in aqueous solution was studied. Furthermore, two host-guest pairs, a-Cyclodextrin/ Polyethylene glycol and ß-Cyclodextrin/Adamantane were employed as driving forces in constructing supramolecular self-assemblies from PHB-based block copolymers and cyclodextrins (CDs). The supramolecular hydrogels and nanostructures were demonstrated to have great potential to be used as drug delivery systems. | |
