Abstract: This paper presents the technical background and research relevant to the electroplating technique. Electroforming is a process whereby a metallized layer is applied to an object via a chemical process referred to as electrolysis. Electrodeposition of dental elastomeric impressions enables a metallized die to be fabricated. Different die materials and techniques exist for the fabrication of dental prostheses via the indirect technique. Electrodeposition of elastomeric impressions offers many advantages, provided an understanding and application of principles is adhered to.
