dc.description.abstract | In this paper we report on some laboratory testing on the carbonation and weathering of concrete. Each study involves accelerated test methods. In the carbonation study the effects of humidity level, grade of concrete and pore size on carbonation depths are investigated. Experiments using mechanical and thermal cyclic loading have been carried out to study deterioration of concrete by weathering; the rates of deterioration are determined by the measurement of dynamic modulus using an elastrosonic apparatus. The paper contains results and analysis of these two studies. | |
