dc.description.abstract | The paper addresses the question of how lecturers can prepare designed-oriented master students of landscape architecture (MLA) to become "GIS savvy". We present findings of teaching geospatial thinking and basic GIS literacy based on 'hands-on' case study approaches. Students collect and map data on site, organise spatial information, analyse, "geo draft", visualise, and share information with others online. Our digital toolbox comprises collaborative web mapping, students' smartphone devices and apps, desktop GIS - 'in small doses' - as well as 3D software, including well-known software applications such as Google Earth and SketchUp. | |
