Abstract: Major labour migration themes in Singapore are addressed, followed by an assessment of how Singapore has been able to harness labour resources effectively and optimally while at the same time avoiding socio-political problems associated with a foreign/migrant labour supply. A review is provided of the employment structure in Singapore, as well as the policies on foreign workers. Issues and implications based on a political economy perspective of migrant workers and the vision of Singapore as a talent capital are evaluated.
