Abstract: In the global mediascape of health communication, magazine-health has become the symbol of soft-authority dictating this regime of feminist self-care. This coalescence of neo-liberalism, health consumerism and radical feminism has set the expectations for healthy feminist living based on rhetoric of health morality and risk management. The urgency for self-care, as dictated by health morality, has fixed women into the sex-ed positions of bodily risk?namely the with-risk, full-of-risk and at-risk bodies under the educational rubric of self-responsibility. Communal solutions offered for the inversion of their risk positions have cast them as the social-sick body in an imagined community of co-healers. With reference to Butler?s argument of the sociological strength of the concept of gender over sex, I argue that the expectations to enact restorative regime is part of a discourse of gendered performance for the damn sex-ed bodies marred by ?atrocities? of moral failing and ignorance.
