Abstract: Web retrieval latency is always a major concern to web content providers and users. In this paper, we propose a novel web acceleration mechanism, called server side Pre-DNS. Our mechanism propagates critical information, the location of the resources, backward to earlier stages in the web retrieval process. Experimental studies show that our mechanism effectively improves web retrieval performance by eliminating unnecessary latency in different network settings.
