Abstract: In this work, different magnetic nanostructures were synthesized and their microwave absorption performance was investigated. To overcome the existing problem of pure Fe for microwave application, Fe/SiO2 core/shell structure and Fe/Al flakes, were employed to reduce its skin effect. The resonance frequency and the permeability were two key parameters for the characterization of microwave absorption performance. The study on Fe/Al flakes revealed that the shape effect on these two parameters were obvious. Further studies were performed on Fe3O4 nanostructures to shed more light on the shape effect. The shape anisotropy induced by different nanostructures could effectively affect the resonance frequency and the permeability of Fe3O4 particles. Besides, Zn-doped ferrite particles were also effective to enhance the resonance frequency and the permeability, which attributed to the relative high saturation magnetization.
