dc.description.abstract | Wenzhou is historically famous for its entrepreneurs. With disadvantageous initial conditions, however, strong industrial growth has occurred in the Wenzhou region in the last two decades. In this paper, by applying the occupational choice model which involves wealth evolution in an imperfect credit market, we try to identify key factors behind the evolution of Wenzhou private enterprises. Relying on a probabilistic firm survey that was carried out in Wenzhou for three industries (shoes, eyeglasses and general equipment), we identify through empirical analysis how the entrepreneurship plays its role and what are the patterns of entrepreneurship in Wenzhou that have facilitated the industrialization of private sector. | |
