Abstract: This dissertation aims to develop graph theoretical interpretations for properties of multi-agent system, in terms of its controllability and disturbance rejection capability. Taking the interaction link weight into consideration, we focus on revealing the impact of interconnection topology on the collective behavior of multi-agent system. A weighted interconnection topology graph is adopted and we study these two properties in a new structural sense. Structural controllability of switched linear systems is investigated first, as a special class of which, structural controllability of multi-agent systems under switching topologies is then studied. Subsequently, null controllability of piecewise linear system is investigated, followed by discussion on how to adopt the result to study of state-dependent multi-agent systems. Besides, how interconnection topology decides the disturbance rejection capability of multi-agent systems in a structural sense is addressed. Finally, we explicitly deduce the requirement on multi-agent interconnection topologies to guarantee structural controllability and disturbance rejection simultaneously.
