Abstract: | Andrographolide (ADO) is one of the many active components of the traditional herb Andrographis paniculata, which has been extensively used in various forms of Ayruvedic and Chinese Medicine. It is a highly versatile compound and has effects on different systems. The most well-known effect of ADO to date is its anti-inflammatory effect due to its ability to inhibit NF-kB activation, and it has been shown to alleviate the effects of many inflammatory diseases. However, the cellular mechanism of ADO has not yet been fully elucidated, and hence the purpose of this project is to elucidate the mechanism through which ADO exerts its various effects on receptor trafficking and signalling. |
