Abstract: This doctorate work proposes several spatio-temporal algorithms for the single-trial detection of target event-related potentials (ERP), in order to boosting the performance of a rapid image triage system (RIT). RIT leverages the split-second human perception capability to optimize the target searching process. As the key component of RIT, novel denoising and feature extraction approaches are developed which take advantage of spatio-temporal propagation of ERP across the scalp for optimal discrimination. The overall performance on simulation experiments and real-life experiments has demonstrated the significance of the work.
