ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | High efficiency and power factor at light load are increasingly desired in desktop computer power supplies for energy saving initiative and product differentiation with the certification of energy saving programs. However, the efficiency and power factor of power factor correctors (PFCs) in desktop computer power supplies are poor at light load. A nonlinear inductor, a CCM-DCM digital control scheme and a multimode digital control scheme are proposed in the thesis. Efficiency and power factor at light load in PFC are improved. With these proposed solutions, the higher efficiency and power factor at light load in PFC will provide a higher margin for desktop computer power supplies in meeting the increasing efficiency and power factor requirements that are imposed by the energy saving programs. | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/35564 |
