Abstract: This masterb s thesis traces the formation of the moral and psychological thought of the late American social critic Christopher Lasch. It concentrates on the latter half of Laschb s intellectual career, covering the years 1979 to 1991. Lasch began the period developing a psychological understanding of human nature based in Freudian psychoanalysis, but ended it with deep interest in the moral and psychological implications of Judeo-Christian religion and transcendental spiritualism. The thesis examines the content of Laschb s moral psychology in its different phases, and discusses how these phases are related to each other and how they transition into one another.
