Title: | Discovery and mechanism of action study of anti-viral compounds for Dengue virus | Authors: | POH MEE KIAN | Keywords: | anti-viral, dengue virus, viral fusion, cholesterol, inhibitor, mechanism of action | Issue Date: | 30-Dec-2010 | Citation: | POH MEE KIAN (2010-12-30). Discovery and mechanism of action study of anti-viral compounds for Dengue virus. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne disease that is prevalent in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. In some severe cases, this disease leads to dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) or dengue shock syndrome (DSS), which may lead to loss of life. The WHO estimates more than fifty million cases of dengue fever occurring every year, hence there is a need for drug-discovery and vaccine development for dengue fever. The aim of this thesis is to identify and characterize three antiviral compounds, NITD448, NITD770 and U18666A, as novel anti-dengue compounds. | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/25815 |
