Abstract: Cable strut systems have been widely developed around the word. In aspect of structural analysis, though the finite element method has been a popular analysis tool, simplified analysis method is still desired by many engineers as a quick way of estimating the response. In aspect of systems, deployable structures have been a hot topic in recent years and some deployable cable strut systems have been developed. However, more efficient systems are still highly expected. In the thesis, first, improved static solutions, empirical solutions for free vibration, and a simple procedure for estimating earthquake responses are proposed for radially arranged cable truss. Secondly, a novel deployable cubic truss system with basic and enhanced types is proposed. It has both simpler stabilization procedure and better structure behavior than existing systems. Thirdly, simplified methods are proposed for predicting static response, frequency and dynamic responses of truss systems under all common boundary conditions.
