Abstract: This comparative study of the English language newspapers' Jakarta Post, of Indonesia, New Straits Times, of Malaysia, and The Straits Times, of Singapore seeks to understand the press representation of terrorism in Southeast Asia. The study revealed that the global discourse on the 'war on terror' provided the larger frame for the reporting with the publications tailoring and politicizing the content within each country's or group's interest. The findings show the relationships between types of labels chosen, media bias and the influence of the official sources of information on the news framing of terrorism.
