dc.description.abstract | Lactobacilli have been widely reported to have anti-tumor properties and these are attributed by both immunological and non-immunological pathways. This project studies the interaction of lactobacilli with immune cells, in particular neutrophils, dendritic cells and splenocytes. The direct cytotoxic effect of lactobacilli was also investigated. A soluble cytotoxic molecule that preferentially targets cancer cells was characterized. | |
