Abstract: Conjugated polymers (CPs) are known to provide an advantage of collective optical response. It can be used as the optical platforms in highly sensitive chemical and biological sensors. CPs are also known to have large two-photon absorption cross-sections compared to the small molecule counterpart. Generally, CPs serve as a highly efficient transport medium for light harvesting and enables optical amplification via Forster resonance energy transfer (FRET). In this work, we have investigated enhanced two-photon excitation fluorescence of drug molecule by FRET using two different conjugated polymers. And the application of CPs in chemical and biological sensing has been explored in four different studies: 1) DNA sequence detection; 2) Mercury ion detection; 3) i-motif DNA switch; and 4) S1 nuclease assay. Remarkable improvement in sensitivity or selectivity has been achieved in all the four cases.
