Objectives: This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (intervention). The objectives are as follows:. To assess the effectiveness and safety of pharmacological agents, placebo and no intervention for rate control of AF in adults presenting to the ED with AF and rapid ventricular response. To rank pharmacological agents for rate control of AF in adults presenting to ED with AF and rapid ventricular response, according to their relative effectiveness and safety.
