Abstract: Three types of complexes were studied in this work. The pincer complex [PdCl(PCP)](PCP = CH(CH2CH2PPh2)2) was obtained from a diphosphine Pd(II) precursor. Its chemistry was studied by Electrospray Ionisation Mass Spectrometry. [PdX(PCP)] (X = OTf, NO3, 4-Spy; 4-Spy = 4-pyridinethiolate) and [Pd(OH2)(PCP)][BF4] were prepared by ligand replacement reactions. The dipalladium complex [{Pd(PCP)}2(Cl)][BF4] was also isolated. [PdX(PCP)] (X = Cl, OTf) have been tested for their catalytic activity in the Suzuki-Miyaura reaction. The dinuclear complexes [{Pd(PCP)}2(L)][OTf]2 (L = dppf, 4,4-bipyridine) and [{Pd(PCP)}2(4-Spy)][PF6] were synthesised. On the other hand, reactions of [(PPh3)2N][Mn2(PPh2)(CO)8] and Ag(I) cationic complexes afforded [Ag2Mn4(CO)16(PPh2)2]2(P-P) (P-P = dppm, dppf). The complexes underwent decarbonylation to give AgMn2(CO)7(PPh2)(P-P) (P-P = dppm, dppf). Finally, thermolyses of two oxalato complexes revealed the potential of {(n-C4H9)4N)[MnIICrIII(C2O4)3]}n as a molecular precursor to Mn1.5Cr1.5O4. K[In(C2O4)2(H2O)4]n was isolated in an attempt to prepare an In/Cr oxalato complex.
