Abstract: This dissertation constructs a new framework which assesses cinema in terms of its ethical philosophies and its commitment towards the ideals of global justice. Based on a re-configuration of cosmopolitan theory of the 1990s this study shows how a new discursive reading of cosmopolitanism lends itself to a fresh way of looking at film in terms of their ethical and political ideologies.
