Abstract: This thesis examines how ethnic differences impact the practice and organization of religious life among Tamil Muslims in Singapore, and interrogates the discourses arising from ethnic difference in the religious domain. It shows that contrary to popular and scholarly opinion, ethnic differences play a significant role in the religious domain.
