Abstract: This project prepares a platform/building blocks for implementation of anelectrocardiograph (ECG) device for biomedical application. An Intel 8051 compatible microcontroller is implemented on 0.35um CMOS process.8051 firmware is also developed to interface the 8051 core with a bluetooh module and SD card formatted in FAT16 file system. The implemented s8051 outperforms original Intel 8051 by a factorof at least 1.8 by implementing pipeline design and branch prediction algorithm.Together with an analog data acquisition portion, the embedded system designed in this project can be used to implement a portable ECG device.
