Abstract: The protein p10 is a truncated form of p35nck5a, a Cdk5 activator. The cleavage of p35 to p25 and p10 under neurotoxic conditions is thought to possibly contribute to neuronal apoptosis in Alzheimera??s disease. The work included in this thesis focused on the role of p10 in apoptosis. As a result, it was found that overexpression of p10 induced significant cell injury and DNA fragmentation in different mammalian cells. The outcome of this research may lead to an improved understanding of the mechanism of neuronal death in Alzheimera??s disease.
