Abstract: The objective of this research is to conduct a systematic study on TBE (time between events) control charts. This dissertation comprises three main parts. Part I, consisting of Chapters 1 and 2, provides an overview of the subjects. Part II, consisting of Chapters 3, 4, 5 and 6, is focused on variable data TBE control charts. It addresses issues including ARL-unbiased design, phase I problem and economic design of the exponential chart, the Gamma chart for monitoring exponential TBE, and economic design of general TBE control charts. Part III, consisting of Chapters 7, 8 and 9, is devoted to attribute data TBE control charts. Analogously, it deals with issues including ARL-unbiased design, phase I problem and economic design of CCC (cumulative count of conforming) chart for high quality processes where items are inspected sample by sample without preserving the original ordering information. It also proposes and examines a new control chart, CCS (cumulative count of samples) chart, for such situations.
