Abstract: A few series of novel, soluble fluorescent alternating polymers were designed and synthesized. They were poly[2,7-(9,9-bis(2-ethylhexyl)fluorenyl)-alt-(pyridinyl)] &poly[2,7-(9,9-bis(2-ethylhexyl)fluorenyl)](I), poly[2,7-(9,9-bis[3,5-bis(benzyloxy)benzyl])fluorenyl-alt-(pyridinyl)](II)and poly[(2,7-(N-(2-ethylhexyl)carbazloyl)-alt-(pyridinyl)] (III).All polymers were prepared by Suzuki cross-coupling reaction and the structures of all polymers were confirmed by 1H-NMR. Their properties such as absorption and emission, thermal stability, electrochemical properties were studied.
