Abstract: This thesis reports the synthesis of two types of one-dimensional wide band-gapsemiconductor nanostructured materials (single crystalline ZnO nanorods andpolycrystalline SnO2 nanotubes). The morphologies, compositions, andphysicochemical properties of prepared samples were characterized bySEM/FESEM/TEM/HRTEM/AFM/UV/PL etc. The measured optical band-gap forZnO nanorods is 3.34 eV and for SnO2 nanotubes is 3.92 eV.
