HIGH-MOBILITY TWO-DIMENSIONAL ELECTRON GASES AT THE (LaAlO3)0.3(SrAl0.5Ta0.5O3)0.7/SrTiO3 AND SrAl0.5Ta0.5O3/SrTiO3 INTERFACES. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Owing to the strong interplay between different degrees of freedom, novel physical properties, which do not exist in their bulk counterparts, emerge at the atomically abrupt interfaces of strongly correlated oxide systems. In particular, the discovery of high-mobility two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) at the interface between two band oxide insulators LaAlO3 (LAO) and SrTiO3 (STO) attracts much research attention and spurs studies on other STO-based 2D electronic systems. My dissertation focusses on studying the (quantum) electronic and magneto transport properties of (La0.3Sr0.7)(Al0.65Ta0.35)O3/SrTiO3 (LSAT/STO) and SrAl0.5Ta0.5O3/SrTiO3 (SATO/STO) interfaces, aiming at improving the mobility of the oxide 2DEG. In these interface systems, because of the reduce lattice mismatch between film and substrate and less scattering from charge impurity, 2DEG electron mobility has increased significantly, accompanied by tunable Shubnikov-de Haas (SdH) oscillations. In addition, at SATO/STO interfaces, we report the first observation of Aharonov-Bohm (AB) effect in oxide interfaces. | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/149491 |
