Abstract: The primary objective of this thesis is to develop a stable and truly meshfree method for analyzing heat transfer problems based on collocation procedure using radial basis function. In this method, radial point interpolation method is employed to construct shape functions and some effective treatments are implemented to deal with derivative boundary conditions to improve the stability and accuracy of numerical solutions. A new formulation of time-domain least-squares method is also derived to improve the efficiency and accuracy of transient heat transfer problems. Numerical examples of steady and transient problems are analyzed to study the effectiveness and accuracy of the present method.
